10 Travel Tips to Start your Adventure

Planning an adventure is one of the best things! The excitement of all the things you are going to see and experience can be overwhelming and the countdown can seem never-ending. You get so excited about the trip itself that you forget all the things that you will need to get done before you go. With our 10 simple travel tips you will be on your way to the perfect, stress-free adventure . . .

Our tips will help you to plan, prepare and have the best experience on your adventure . . .
1. Plan an itinerary:

This is probably one of our most important tips for your adventure. Planning an itinerary ensures that you know all the information you need to see all the best sights and have the best experiences in each location. If you already know what you want to see, you won't be going back and forth in that location to see everything. By having an itinerary you are able to pre-book any tickets that you need for attractions. This could work out cheaper and faster on the day of visiting.

We found that when visiting a large place such as New York an itinerary was essential to see everything in each location before travelling to a new area of the city.

2. Document everything:

Our blog itself is a place where we can document our travels and adventures. We also document our travels by filling photo albums and scrapbooks and spilling our thoughts into a journal. Each of these steps allows us to look back at what we have done and what we have seen and be filled with memories and experiences. By documenting everything you don't need to worry about forgetting anything and you can always have something to look back at.
3. Check events at the location you are travelling to:

This is a great tip if you want to attend a certain event or even if you want to visit the destination when nothing is happening, so you can explore at your own free will. Events at the location will affect the price of your hotel, the availability of the hotel and what you will do while visiting the destination. For example this weekend we are visiting Eindhoven while the glow festival is on. Although this is a night time event so will probably not effect the opening of any attractions during the day, it could effect the hotel price and availability. Checking events before you visit the destination can prepare you for something you want to see or do, or on the other hand let you know so you can change your travel dates.

4. Invest in a multi-use travel adapter:

This is your must have travel essential if you like to visit a variety of different places. The adapter can charge multiple devices at one time with a plug socket and two USB ports. Although it charges multiple devices at once it still charges everything at a good speed so you don't have to worry about it taking longer. But this is not just a must have travel essential because you can charge multiple devices at once it is a must have travel essential because it has adapter plugs which fit into sockets in a wide range of countries. This makes it perfect if you are travelling to a country and you don't know what adapter you need or even if you are traveling to a country that you don't plan on visiting for a while but need an adapter for another country.

5. Visas and travel health:

Visas are something that you need for only some countries. Each country that requires you to have a visa will have different application methods and requirements to allow you to enter the country. It is important that before you visit a country you check if you need a visa. Some visas can be easily applied for online where as others need to be applied for by post. As for health cards you are able to apply for a European health card online which gives you the right to healthcare when you are in another European country other than your home country.
6. Pack essential beauty products in your hand luggage:

This is not a tip which we would just recommend for long haul flights, we would recommend it for all flights. After the time it takes you to get to the airport, be at the airport, be on the flight and travel to your accommodation on the other side you will have probably had quite a long day. Therefore you want to have a few bits on you to freshen up as you travel. This could be make up products, mouth spray, deodorant or even some wash things so you don't need to search through your case when you get to the hotel. By having all your essential beauty bits on you, you can freshen up when you please and you also don't need to worry about them if your case happened to go missing.

7. Be prepared to pay city tax when checking out of hotels:

When staying in a hotel within a city you will be obliged to pay city tax upon departure depending on how many nights you stayed and how many of you stayed. The price of city tax varies depending on the city, the hotel, how many people and even the time of year. Although this is something that can not be avoided, it can be prepared for. Most hotels like city tax to be paid in cash only, so make sure you save some for check out.

8. Download important apps:

This is a great idea if you have a lot of flights or attractions booked. By downloading the apps you can usually save your tickets or boarding passes on them so you won't need to print them out or worry about losing them. By having your boarding pass on your phone you are able to go through the security gates quicker as you don't need to get any paperwork out and at the gate they will also scan your phone.
9. Plan what you are packing:

Planning what you are packing can save you a lot of time and a lot of stress. If you have a list or plan of what you will need then packing can be simple and straight forward. You won't have to worry about forgetting things of not knowing if you have packed them. Also you will make sure you have packed enough and by having a list of plan to look back on you can always double check what you have packed before you leave. This will make for a stress free and exciting wait for your trip!

10. Pack your valuables in your hand luggage:

This is a simple yet important tip. By packing your valuables in your hand luggage you will be able to know where they are at all times which could prevent them getting lost or broken. These may not be valuable in money but if it is something that you don't want to risk losing; even if it is just a favourite swimming costume; then you should put it in your hand luggage.
We would love to hear your top tips for travelling? What would you recommend?
